A museology event “Cultural Interchange of Canton Province and Macao Museums” took place in
Macao on the 27th to 30th March, 2001. Organized and coordinated by the Cultural Institute and the Museum of Macao, the initiative was to promote contacts with Canton Province’s Museums and to established a dialogue concerning museology and the awareness to preserve culture and heritage. The event started on the 27th of March, at 14:30 in the Auditorium of the Museum of Macao. After receiving the Canton participants, the Director of the Museum of Macao Ms. Iok Lan Fu Barreto gave a welcoming speech. The Canton participants were representatives of the Cultural Department of Canton Province, the Provincial Museum of Canton and twelve institutions. The group visited the Ruins of St. Paul, Guia Lighthouse, Penha Church, Mong-Há Fortress, museums and temples in Macao and the Islands. During the visits, the museums from Canton and Macao were able to exchange different ideas and varied aspects of museology. The event ended on the 30th March. |
