The exhibition
of "Macau during the Sino-Japanese War" comprises
an ample content as well as pictures and is a complete
display of the contribution of people in Macau to their
motherland during the war. It reflects the patriotic
resistance of the Macau people against foreign aggression
since the Opium War and their glorious tradition of
having ardent love for the motherland. At the same time
it introduces through images the general situation of
the city of Macau, its economy, people's livelihood,
culture and education during the war. It is not only
precious teaching material for patriotism, but also
a classroom for comprehensive social research on Macau
during the 1930s and 1940s. I further hope that historians
and scholars within the field of social science studies
in Macau can proceed to a further in-depth research
on Macau during the Sino-Japanese War and to open up
new areas of research in the study of Macau's history.
Since Macau's return to the motherland one year ago,
the Macau SAR Government led by the Chief Executive,
Edmund Ho follows the Basic Law, which carries through
the "One country, Two systems" policy, governed
by the Macau people, and has obtained a world-recognized
performance. We will carry on the glorious tradition
of patriotism, excel in the various jobs in the Macau
SAR, not being ungrateful to the expectation of the
people of the whole country and the central authority.
Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to express
my heartfelt gratitude to the co-organizing of the Museum
of the Anti-Japanese War of Chinese People, the Association
of Macau Modern Culture and History and various institutes,
societies and people of different walks of life in Macau
for supporting this exhibition!
