Participate in Voluntary Work
Docents
The docent service constitutes an important part of Museum education. Through the guidance provided by docents, the public can gain an in-depth understanding of the historical background and significance of exhibits. Hence, the docent represents a vital communication bridge between museums and the public.
The Macao Museum periodically offers a Docent Training Course targeting Macao residents who have obtained high school qualifications or above and are interested in history, cultural relics, exhibitions and educational tasks. They are required to speak fluent Mandarin, English and Portuguese. Candidates who are available to serve from Tuesday to Friday are preferable. The Macao Museum will select outstanding candidates and provide them with relevant training for free. Selected candidates will be trained as contracted docents and participate in exhibition docent services and educational workshops, providing residents with diverse services. All of these enable participants to further understand the unique Sino-Western cultural history of Macao.
Contracted docents will enjoy priority invitations to participate in opening ceremony activities, seminars, academic activities, inter-museum professional inspections and visiting activities by the Macao Museum, in addition to free admission to all affiliated galleries plus 30% discount in purchasing Macao Museum publications.
