The building was built around 1870 and was later purchased and transformed into a hotel by a British person who named it “Hotel Boa Vista”. The hotel was renamed “Hotel Bela Vista” in 1936 and closed down in 1999. The building has been used as the official residence of the Consul-General of Portugal in Macao and Hong Kong ever since.
