The exhibition displays about 200 sketches and drawings by Gao Jianfu, which mainly include his duplicates of masters’ works and sketches of life and nature. Among the duplicates are his traditional Chinese meticulous line drawings of flowers, birds, grass and insects following Master Ju Lian, his copies of the flower-bird patterns in the tradition of Yun Shouping, Song Guangbao, Meng Litang, Ju Chao and Ju Lian, and his sketch copies of the Buddhist images from murals in South Asia. Other field-sketches have made topics of landscapes, plants and animals. Done in different techniques, they can be classified as pencil or pen sketches, pencil drawings, coloured pencil drawings, monochrome watercolours, ink and coloured drawings.
