Modern Art a succession of Avant-Garde styles in art which have dominated Western Culture almost throughout the 20th Century is the subject of the Exhibition that will be held at the Landmark from the 19th May until the 2nd June 2000. Organised by the China National Museum of Fine Arts. The Cultural Institute and the Landmark, this exhibition will illustrate the importance of Contemporary masterworks in todays cultural world.This ensemble of paintings and instalations were donated to the People Republic of China by the well known Industrialist and his wife, Peter and Irene Ludwig.Major works that will be on show include artists such as Pablo Picasso, one of the inventors of cubism and abstract painting and considered the greatest artist of the 20th Century. Andy Warhol, a painter, grafic artist and film maker was a cult figure during the 1960's and a major icon in the American Pop movement together with Roy Lichtenstein a prime exponent of American Pop Art. Other artistic works included are from Italy, Germany, Romania, France, Estonia, Russia and Bulgaria and are fundamental components for the overall unity in expression of this collection.
