Series of activities held in the Macao Museum on "International Museum Day"

18th May, the annual International Museum Day, on which the public will receive free admission to the Macao Museum of the Cultural Affairs Bureau and its affliated Heritage Exhibition of a Traditional Pawnshop Business. The organizer will offer two free public guided tours and arrange a series of activities by then. The public guided tours, one of which will be at 11am (Mandarin) while the other will be at 3pm (Cantonese), are held for the local citizens and tourists to obtain an in-depth understanding about what is being exhibited in the Macao Museum. All people are welcome to join.

In order to promote the preservation of world cultural heritage and increase the social awareness to cherish and protect the existing ones, "Know More About The Macao World Cultural Heritage" game and lucky draw event will be held from 11:00am to 1:00pm and from 3pm to 5pm on 18th May in the Macao Museum, so that the knowledge of the Historic Centre of Macao World Cultural Heritage can be further advertised and promoted.

Also, the "Macao International Museum Day Carnival 2012", jointly organized by various museums in Macao, will see the participation of the Macao Museum. The Carnival will be held in Tap Seac Square on 6th May (Sunday). Under the framework of the Greater Pearl River Delta Cultural Cooperation Meeting spirit, various museums from Guangdong and Hong Kong will participate in the activities in order to strengthen the exchange of the cultural exhibition personnel among the three regions.

To respond to and exalt the theme of the International Council of Museums for the International Museum Day this year which is "Museums in a Changing World: New Challenges, New Inspirations" as well as the intangible cultural heritage in Macao, in the Carnival activity booth, the Macao Museum will set up the Macanese Cuisine Culture " Genete Macanese Cookies Family Workshop" which belongs to the intangible cultural heritage in Macao. In Heritage Exhibition of a Traditional Pawnshop Business (Tak Seng On Pawnshop), Summer Healthy Floral Tea Free Drink and live quiz (questions will be about Heritage Exhibition of a Traditional Pawnshop Business) will be arranged with a total of 500 gifts given out which include Macao original TEE "A Multi Macao", sweet cake towel and wishing bottle hang decorations while stocks last. The activities will be held from 2:30pm to 6:30pm during which local citizens and tourists are welcome to participate on-site. Besides professional guidance of how to make the cookies, participants can also taste their finished cookies instantly in the workshop and bring them back home to share with their families. Parents are welcome to accompany children to participate in the workshop.
