Portuguese porcelain made in the 17th century in Portugal for holding drugs. As the Portuguese settled in Macao, Western medicine also spread to the Chinese mainland. In the 17th century, Western drugs became an important type of tribute to Chinese emperors. Some missionaries event took the position of Royal Physician in the imperial palace.
