Macao Museum and Affiliated Galleries Open as Usual During Chinese New Year Holidays

The Macao Museum and its affiliated galleries under the Cultural Affairs Bureau - including the Museum of Sacred Art and Crypt, the Heritage Exhibition of a Traditional Pawnshop Business, the Kun Iam Ecumenical Centre, the Mount Fortress Corridor and the Guia Chapel located in Guia Fortress - will be open to the public on Chinese New Year’s Eve (7th February) as well as during the Chinese New Year (8th to 10th February) as usual. Residents and tourists are welcome to visit. To make it convenient to visit, the Macao Museum will be open on the first day of the Chinese New Year (8th February) as usual, despite Mondays being originally designated as a closing day.

To celebrate the Chinese New Year, Macao residents can visit the Macao Museum from the first to the third days of Chinese New Year (8th to 10th February) free of charge, by presenting Macao Resident Identity Card or student card. During Chinese New Year, the Macao Museum will present itself with pleasing decoration and festive flowers for the visitors to feel a delightful ambience of the Chinese New Year. The showcases of donated items in the hall will display the relics donated by warm-hearted people recently, enabling the visitors to know more about the details of the heritage items donated to the Macao Museum, encounter the history preserved on the streets and evoke collective memories.

The Macao Museum is open for free on 15th of every month. On Sundays local residents can enjoy free entry with the Macao Resident Identity Card or the student card. Non-profit organizations should apply for free visit seven working days in advance. The Macao Museum will open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (ticket purchase until 5:30 p.m.), except on Mondays.
