The kendi(or Kundikā in sanskrit) water jar was introduced to China during the Sui and Tang dynasties and its popularity had lasted until the Qing dynasty. The kilns in both northern and southern China produced kendi water jars with epochal features. Both Buddhist and Islamist believers used them for washing their hands or storing water.
