Zheng Guanying is not only known for his monumental work “Shengshi Weiyan” (“Words of Warning in Times of Prosperity”) - which influenced Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty, Dr. Sun Yat-sen, Mao Zedong and a generation of others - but is also known as one of the leaders of the five industries initiated in China’s first modernisation drive and known as the Westernisation Movement. He was the owner of the Mandarin’s House, which has been accorded World Heritage site status in the Historic Centre of Macao, and is a historic figure known to all in the territory. In recognition of its 10th anniversary, the Macao Museum is hosting an exhibition entitled “Words of Warning in Times of Prosperity – The Legacy of Zheng Guanying”, which features a 27-minute documentary entitled “Zheng Guanying”, extolling the virtues of this extraordinary man’s exciting life.
