Sancai porcelains were common funerary objects (mingqi) in Tang dynasty. Based on the Han-dynasty low-temperature lead glaze, Sancai porcelains were produced in the ruling period of Emperor Gaozong of the Tang dynasty (650-683) as the peak of China's porcelain culture. This elegant Sancai horse has beautiful bridle and sadle, not only testifying the high artisanship of porcelain artists but also exhibiting the zeitgeists of the great Tang dynasty.
