Porcelains of Christian themes were ordered since the Europeans reached South China in the first half of the 16th century. From the early to midQing dynasty, there were export wares of various religious themes, made with, apart from blue and white porcelain, famille rose, grisaille, and gilt, etc. The pattern of this jar is about the life of Jesus and paints the scene of the Nativity.
