Guangcai, short for Guangzhou weaving gold polychrome-glazed porcelain, appeared in the late Kangxi era of the Qing dynasty. Common products include bowls, plates, vases, dishes and other table wares. The patterns are obviously decorative, colors sharp and bright, and often with gold enamel. Many Guangcai-glazed porcelains were produced according to foreign traders' requirements of Western shapes and patterns; some even with emblems emulating the images provided by clients. This bowl came from the former Macao Governor's Palace. The emblem of the Macao Portuguese Government is on the surface and 澳門總督衙門 (literally in English, Macao Governor's Office) on the bottom.
